give IT. get IT. joins the Maine Workforce Development Compact — Because Maine’s Workers Deserve More
For more than two decades, Information Technology Exchange, doing business as give IT. get IT., has been committed to strengthening Maine’s workforce. From the beginning, our work has centered on a simple but powerful belief: when workers have the skills and opportunities they need to grow, everyone wins: the individual, the organization, and the communities we all share.
That’s why we are proud to announce that give IT. get IT. has officially joined the Maine Workforce Development Compact (MWDC), a coordinated statewide initiative administered through the Harold Alfond Center for the Advancement of Maine’s Workforce, a division of the Maine Community College System.
What Is the Maine Workforce Development Compact?
Maine is facing a significant and growing skilled worker shortage — and the MWDC was designed to meet that challenge head-on. The Compact brings together employers across the state in a coordinated effort to invest in Maine’s frontline workers: the people directly involved in delivering products and services every day.
The MWDC focuses on the 86% of Maine’s workforce classified as frontline workers — those who often have the fewest access to professional development opportunities. National research tells us that only 19% of non-managerial employees receive any formal professional development. The Compact exists to change that.
Through the MWDC, participating organizations can access funding support for training and professional development — helping workers build skills, advance in their careers, and thrive in a changing economy. Eligible pathways include training through Maine’s community colleges, in-house programs, and third-party vendors, as well as scholarship opportunities for community college coursework.
Why This Matters to give IT. get IT.?
This work is not new to us. For over 20 years, give IT. get IT… has been doing what the Compact formalizes: investing in people. We have long understood that the strength of Maine’s workforce is inseparable from the strength of Maine’s future. Joining the MWDC is a natural next step and a meaningful one.
Being part of this Compact signals our continued commitment to Maine’s workers and our belief in the power of collaboration. When organizations across the state align around a shared goal, elevating the skills and opportunities of Maine’s frontline workforce, the impact multiplies.
Looking Ahead
The Maine Workforce Development Compact runs through June 2030, and we are excited about the possibilities it holds for our organization and for Maine. We will continue to share updates as we explore how to make the most of this powerful resource in alignment with our mission.
We are proud to stand alongside other committed Maine employers in this effort, and prouder still to formalize a commitment that has always been at the heart of what give IT. get IT. does.
